Pinvoy

So, Nicky is slowly collecting a full set of Ilford Envoy box cameras. Annoyingly, one of his collection arrived missing its lens, which meant it was unusable.  We decided a long time ago that rather than leave it as a display piece, we would modify it into a pinhole camera. It made sense really. The camera body is light tight and takes 120 or 620 roll film. It also has a tripod mount, which is essential for long exposure photography.  All we needed to do was modify the shutter so we could take long exposures without disturbing the camera, and make a pinhole aperture.

So, after trying to modify the shutter, Nicky came to the conclusion that a lens cap to cover the pinhole would be a simpler solution. So the shutter mechanism was removed and a lens cap was fashioned from the top of a jar of mixed herbs.

For the pinhole we pierced some tinfoil with a narrow piece of wire from a wire tie. The hole measured 0.4mm, which gave us an aperture of f/200. We held this in place with a plastic disc cut from a lemonade bottle top.

Hey presto! One pinhole camera. It has been tried and tested and produces actual pictures:
