FrankEnsign

It's Alive!

Not one of the original Ensign range. You won't find this camera anywhere else. If you want one you'll have to make your own. Simply take the body and bellows of one Ensign Ranger II and attach the shutter and lens from one Ensign Selfix 420. Hey presto. One FrankEnsign.

This camera came about because the lens in our original Ensign Ranger II had some defects. Rather than shelve the camera we kept an eye out for another model being listed for spares or repairs. However, as luck would have it someone listed the shutter and lens from a Selfix 420 for sale, which just happened to be the right focal length for our Ranger model. The new lens was faster at f/4.5, which on 6x9 exposures should also produce some very nice bokeh. The fact that the shutter was a significant upgrade from the original Trikon shutter was an added bonus.

Now all we need to do is find the correct screws to re-attach the film pressure plate, and maybe find an optical viewfinder for it.
