Ilford Envoy Cameras

A series of box cameras produced between 1953-60. These art deco styled bakelite cameras were made in Birmingham for Ilford by Photo Developments Ltd. They had curved film planes and were quite versatile in that they could take 120 or 620 film. The main difference between each camera was in the styling. The simple Ilford Optimax 90mm lens had a fixed aperture of f/16 and could do close-ups when pulled out (4-8 feet), and everything else when pushed in. Shutter speed is 1/40 and is synchronised for flash, though there is also a Time option for long exposures. The camera interior is baffled to stop internal reflections from degrading the image quality. The camera shoots eight 6x9 images.
